Nexum

A 100% local, private home AI platform built from scratch. Nexum is the operating layer for the home — bringing together email, news, stocks, smart devices, video feeds, and AI agents into a single multi-user web dashboard. No subscription. No data leaves the house.

Backend is Python FastAPI, frontend is React, storage is PostgreSQL, AI inference runs on-device with Ollama. The whole stack runs on a CM5 single-board computer with a Hailo-8 AI accelerator — sitting on a desk at home.

Background

The story.

By day, Ludwig Taveras Perdomo coordinates fleet operations. By night, he builds software systems that most small teams would need an engineering department to produce. He is self-taught, methodical, and unwilling to accept that capability is gated by credential.

The origin of Nexum was simple: every home app was either too narrow, too expensive, too cloud-dependent, or too dumb. So he decided to build the one that wasn't. What started as a home dashboard became a full AI platform — with its own agent framework, IoT integrations, local inference stack, and production-grade infrastructure running on hardware that fits on a shelf.

The inflection point was Claude Code as a pair programmer. Not as a code generator that spits out snippets, but as a genuine engineering collaborator — handling architecture discussions, debugging sessions, refactors, and research in real time. The result is a velocity that wasn't available to solo builders before. One person. One AI. A system that runs.
