Nexum runs on commodity ARM hardware — the current production setup uses a Raspberry Pi CM5-based server, a secondary x86 compute node, and an IoT gateway Pi. Total hardware cost is well under $400. A single Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 is enough to start.
No. Nexum is designed to run entirely on your local network with zero cloud dependency for core functionality. The AI assistant (Nous) uses the Anthropic Claude API for language tasks — that is the only external call, and it can be replaced with a local Ollama model if preferred.
Currently integrated: Ring cameras (doorbell + stickup), Tuya smart plugs and switches, Narwal robot vacuum, Vizio SmartCast TV, Amazon Echo/Alexa, Honeywell smart thermostat, and any device with a REST or local API. If you have a device you'd like integrated, let us know.
